Sol B. River graduated from the Northern Film School – Leeds Beckett University with an MA in scriptwriting and later in film direction. He has worked with key broadcasters such as Channel Four, ITV and the BBC. An eclectic experience as a writer, director and producer has seen a career span, theatre, radio, film and television; covering various genres from documentary to drama. Having won and been nominated for various awards Sol is a published author (Oberon Books, Bloomsbury, Penguin), has been a Royal Literary Fund Fellow (RLF) and has contributed to various anthologies on the creative arts.
Having cut his teeth as a director/producer on two Channel 4 documentaries for directors new to television, he progressed to deliver a number of independent current affairs films for the BBC.
He produced directed and exec produced the award winning documentary ‘Walk Against Fear’ for the Smithsonian Channel on the 1960’s Civil Rights legend James Meredith. Awards for television - Cablefax Award, best overall content by genre, The Telly Awards Silver Winner and shortlisted for a Royal Television Society award.
Ali Rashid is an award winning producer who has served on a number of boards relating to film and television, including PACT. He ran his own production company for a number of years, is a former group head at YTV - Tyne Tees and the former Head of the School of Media, Design and Technology at the University of Bradford.
Sally has worked for all the leading UK channels. Specialising in difficult access based observational documentaries.
After completing a BA in American studies at Leicester University she won a Women in Film and Television bursary to the Northern Film School. She began her career as a runner aged 30, working on the Dragons' Den spin off shows at the BBC and as a location assistant for BBC 3 Bizarre ER.
She went on to work as an Assistant Producer on the popular retuning series Weight Loss Ward. Sally has been a producer on a number of difficult films for Channel 4 dispatches including Forced Marriage Cops, The Truth about Muslim Marriage as well as BAFTA and Grierson nominated, The Family Secret. She has produced and directed Fighting Shame for the Guardian, The Truth about Long Covid for Dispatches, Yorkshire Midwives on Call Episode 4 for BBC2 and 33 Families One Big Build for BBC1, Looking After the Grandkids: The True Cost with Jennie Bond. As well as, When can I see my GP? Presented by Dr Amir Khan for ITV1 Tonight. Recent projects include mentoring for Filmmakers 25 and Gritty Talent, a short form series 'Industry Voices' for social media.
Jin is a documentary filmmaker, with a passion for exploring new media and fostering collaborations. A graduate of the University of Warwick (MA in International Relations) and the University of East Anglia (BA Hons. in English and American Studies: Literature and Film), Jin’s work bridges art and storytelling.
Notable projects include the 'Bills and Beats' initiative, which features a documentary series, discussions, and live events. Recently, Jin was commissioned by the Huang Yao Foundation to create four short films in both English and Mandarin, highlighting an exhibition at The British Museum.
Jin's creative portfolio includes the prototype teaser for the immersive storytelling project ‘Into-Visible’ (2021) funded by XR Stories, and highly rated films like Edge of Obedience (2017) and Being and Becoming Chua Ek Kay (2013). As a thought leader in the industry, Jin has served as a juror for the Royal Television Society Awards and participated in discussions on gender equality in the media, including panels for BBC and Women in Film and Television.
Jin continues to push the boundaries of documentary filmmaking and narrative exploration.
